This cushion has been woven in loom for women who live in the area of Monte de Santiago del Estero, northern Argentina.
Historically, fabric crafts were one of the most important activities during the colonial and modern period in this area, and today there are many interior women who resist losing this millenary work.
Teleras inhabit the mountain and their works respond to the needs of the community, but at the same time they recreate them to sell them and generate income. They use own resources of the area and natural pigments for their dye, such as the crying (the black carob resin) for the brown color, the pencas, the chañar, chamomile, yerba mate or orange peels.
In this art there are several points to observe to consider the work in its fair measure, and it must be taken into account, not only the realization of the loom, but also how the inventiveness, the reason and its aesthetic sense and its sense develops and Creative, as well as the skill in the handling of the tools and the operation of the loom: the telera cannot neglect the threads that are crossing while with his feet he moves the pedals of the loom and with his hands handle the comb or the blade.
All products are handmade with 100% natural and ecological materials. They can vary slightly in size, shape and color, but they are 100% original and unique!
