This wonderful design is known around the world as Jemima 10 Cows in honor of the creator of her, Jemima Akolgo, since she was the first to knit this type of baskets in Bolgatanga. Since then, Jemima has taught and inspired many other weavers with his innovative approach to traditional Gurunsi folklore.
Each of these baskets impacts for its beauty and size, and constitutes a single creation (there are not two equals!). Made for several weeks of work by hand in Bolgatanga, Ghana, by artisan masters that use a traditional technique to weave the grass "Elephant Pasto" and its particular rhythm and Flow, C.Ada piece comes directly from the hands of these weavers artisans and are a reflection of its character: energetic, colorful, decided.
The Baba Tree Basket Company Ltd. is a local company that for 15 years is committed to an ethical business model, with the aim of preserving the culture of the basketry and the prosperity of the Gurinsi community in Bolgatanga. This company provides sustainable employment, fair and significant work to more than 250 artisans, causing a true social impact on the local community.
The Baba Tree pays school fees, funeral (one of the most important cultural traditions), hospital bills and health insurance for all its collaborators.
The weekly workshops it offers, training in different skills and the enthusiasm and innovation of weavers allow their domain in this art to be recognized and admired around the world.
